After bucking a G-tube for a couple of years with my CP client (whose
swallow studies were very similar to yours) I am very glad we finally got a
mickey button. He's had no problems and the ability to fine tune his
nutrition has been very helpful. Pneumonia will be more serious than almost
anything that might happen with a GT. Plus, if Jacob's feeling too sick to
eat well, or if he should need hospitalization or surgery, his ability to
eat via GT during recovery will be valuable. As Jacob develops, you may find
that his oral abilities improve, but you may not. GT gives you options. Lots
of liquid vitamins and supplements on the market that are great in addition
to whatever formula you may buy or make up yourself. Good luck. It sounds as
if your road has been very challenging. A GT will also make things easier on
you and allow others to better care for him when the need arises.

Sincere good wishes from Sundie R.
