Hi. My name is Susan. Personally, I find Singer's philosophy both dangerous and morally repugnant. Eugenics has been practiced in the United States and many other parts of the world at various points throughout history. Many of Hitler's techniques were first tried on elderly and/or disabled people. Those interested in this controversy may want to get a copy of next week's The New YORKER magazine(dated Sept. 6, 1999). It contains a profile of Singer titled "The Dangerous Philosopher". The piece gets particularly interesting towards the end. It turns out that Singer himself (thankfully) often finds it difficult to practice what he preaches.
