I have the recent compilation of The Beatles no. 1 hits on my cd
player as I write this, even though they were I suppose `before my
time', I love their music, and you are so right, Kathy, `Something' is
an absolute stunner, gets me every time, my other favourite is `The
Long and Winding Road', I can easily listen to them over and over.
The Beatles, Billy Joel (`An Innocent Man' just blows me away, it is
my all favorite song, the most wonderful lyrics ever), and Elton John,
are my favourite artists. The Beatles have the most incredible joy in
their songs, and just give me the warm fuzzies (don't laugh, you guys,
they do!). I hate it when my favorite musicians, writers, actors
etc. die, I feel like they are so wonderful and give so much pleasure
they should last forever (and yes they do, in their work - but just
their existence makes me happy). Gawd, can you all tell I'm doped up
on muscle relaxants and pain killers at the moment!

RIP George, long live his musical legacy.

He was a big influence in my growing-up years. He was the most quiet and laid-back member of the group, and his great music was overshadowed by John Lennon and Paul McCartney's music. "Something" is one of the best love songs in the history of rock, in my humble opinion. And his "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" was easily the best cut on the "White Album."
