Dear mike,
my deepest sympathies on the loss of your father. Seems like death comes
rolling in on our parent's generation...

I lost a great family friend last week, and I knew it was coming, he had
non-hodskins lymphoma. His wife was also a friend, and said he was ready
to go, and passed peacefully. This couple used to take me out for ice cream
sundaes when I was depressed. Harland was a great cook, and enjoyed feeding
everybody, he was also a doctor who retired early due to heart problems,
but, he went out to Indian reservations and brought medical help to a great
number of people who needed it. He had a little sailboat and went out every
chance he had to fish, and be at one with nature. I went out with him in
the boat sometimes in high school. When my mom died his wife betty, gave me
a lot of sage advice. mostly she was there for me when I needed a mom
figure. \
