What? Oh, you mean "911" - well why then is 12/7/41 so easy or Armistice Day,
or D-Day or Memorial Day, etc?  It's because these are dates of significance.
They tend to stick in people's minds.  In the UK, "911" is not the universal
emergency number (I think it's either "999" or "888") and they will remember
9-11 for the rest of their lives because of the significance of the date.
People don't need memory tricks for that sort of thing, especially if it's an
important date in history.
