You might also want to ask about the availability of beach chairs.  They're
special wheelchairs with huge inflatable tires that don't sink down into the
sand.  This enables you to go right down to the ocean.  I know they have
them in Ocean City, MD and some other cities with beaches... It was really a
kick for me to use one, since sand is difficult to handle in a regular
chair.  I know this wasn't your question, but I hope it helps anyway.
