Ever wonder what the leading cause of death is in the District of Columbia,
Maryland, Virginia or any other state? What percent of children are
immunized?
Well, answers to these and other questions are in the latest edition of the
HRSA
State Profiles--one for each state and the District of Columbia--now
available
online at http://www.hrsa.gov/stateprofiles/.

The HRSA profiles are user- friendly -- stocked full of charts, tables, and
critical data on many issues from the health status of mothers and babies to
the
quality of care available for people living with HIVAIDS and other
infectious
diseases. They also count the number of doctors, dentists and nurses and
examine
their distribution in high-need areas throughout the state. Each profile
features detailed information about how HRSA resources are being targeted to
improve access to health care within a state.

These profiles contain a host of critical health status indicators that can
be
used to assess the well-being of health care systems in communities across
the
country. They provide a ready resource for state officials as they strive to
improve the delivery of vital health care services to their residents who
need
help most.

Remember to look for the HRSA State Profiles online at
http://www.hrsa.gov/stateprofiles/. The Web site offers several options for
viewing HRSA program data and state-level demographic data. The site also
allows you to create your own queries. Copies of the State Profiles can be
ordered from the HRSA Information Center by calling 1-888-Ask-HRSA.
