one thing, anne. it is not recomended to just drop diazepam (valium) cold.
if you are taking it ask your doctor if dropping valium for clonazepam is
desirable or should you taper into clonazepam as you taper out of valium.
kyle, i know you are not a doctor, but, do you know if one should taper in
and out?

Anee-

I'm suspecting the "colazapam" that you're referring to is Clonazepam
(Klonipin). Clonazepam is different from the other diazepams in that its
effects are more "time-released" in that it takes a while to metabolize.
The advantage is that is less prone to abuse because it does not producea
quicke euphoria like valium. Conversely, it stays in your system longer,
giving it therapeutic value for overnight use. It's as effective as valium
in reducing spasticity and is also used to treat "tics" and as a mild
anxiolytic. It generally does not produce somatic or psychological
dependence (a plus) and can usually be stopped without a tapering-off
period.

Hi everyone

I have never tried Zanaflex. Usualy if I am having an increase in spastcity
it's due to one of two things. Either I am gettiing to stressed out or I am
having a side effect from another medication (that is what happaned most
recently when Dr. Joe tried me on Effxor for my depression--I also got relly
dizzy and ended up in the student health center from 9:30-5:30). Needless
to say that I am now back on Zoloft even though it's not very effective at
this point. If I am having so much spasticity that it is interfearing with
daily activities then I usualy get placed on one of the "pam" drugs--those
being colazapam (sp) and diazapam [Vallium] for a short time.
