<< Can any ont tell me what is CDC? >>

CDC - Centers for Disease Control. It's a US agency under the jurisdiction
of The Department of Health and Human Services. The mission of the CDC (from
their website) is to "Promote health and quality of life by preventing and
controlling disease, injury, and disability."

I had a great experience with CDC once, and if you don't mind I'd like to
share it. When I was working in occupational safety and health for a Navy
command in Wash. DC, I was tasked with developing their reproductive hazards
program. I was starting from scratch because we didn't have anything, and I
needed help to do the best possible job. I called CDC's offices in Atlanta,
GA. for advice, and ended up talking with two doctors who were the top
specialists in that field. They willingly gave me their time in several
phone conversations, sent me more information than I could handle, and one of
them even offered to come and give a lecture to my command while he was going
to be in DC. They were phenomenal. The reason they impressed me is because
of the way they spoke to me. I'm a nobody, relatively speaking, but they
treated me with respect and talked with me as an equal. When I read the
things they sent me, I realized that at least one of them had international
acclaim for his expertise in the field of reproductive hazards.

This was, hands down, the best cooperative experience I ever had working for
the federal government. I like to think about that when I run into a pompous
doctor who has never been published anywhere, but acts like he's your higher
power(s) of choice's gift to the planet.

Thanks for letting me share this morning,
Betty Alfred
