I think the point about our physical body being "older" than than of our peers
is important; especially in the work place. Productivity levels of mobility
disabled employees would be enhanced if they had greater opportunity for
flex-time; working at home, even. Abseentism due to illness would be reduced
with the disabled employee not feeling so pressured to keep up with his
able-bodied workmates if such options were available. That's why I opted out of
my government gig and free-lanced. The only way to go, and the money was better
:)

Now, "officially" retired, my time is my own to do with what I choose -
usually working on my writing projects, and soap boxing in various local
newspapers

I tend to have bursts of energy where I get a whole lot of routine stuff done
at once; then it can slide for weeks when I slip into a cycle of acute fatigue.
I stopped worrying about "keeping up" years ago. I don't need to impress anyone
:)
