oh we are holding them responsible. you see stands at wal-mart, in grocery stores with newspapers trying to "give away" subscriptions. their circulations are dropping. the newspaper and magazine business is in big trouble. the networks rating have dropped to the point that they too are in trouble as far as their news divisions. they know why, but they will drive theirself into the fround before they'd go back to just being reporters of fact.  i used to write them, i got tired of the condecending junk they wrote back. let me paraphrase: dear mr barber thank you for writing. we are sorry that you are a dumbass that does not understand how complex the world is. we know better than you. we are tryiing to effect the public opinion in a way that is best for all of the dumbasses in the country that do not know what is best.
let them go out of business. the quicker the better.

What does it take to get an editors attention - pure fabrication or plagiarism?
Is there no such thing as journalistic ethics anymore?  I know that with the
quick turnaround the electronic media has brought about, fact checking is a
thing of the past, but if Kyle writes letters to the editor (or sends them what
he sent to the list), other readers may pick up the idea and there might be
actual subscription or advertiser repercussions.  I'm reminded of the quote:

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

Edmund Burke (1729 - 1797)

Kendall

An unreasonable man (but my wife says that's redundant!)

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

-George Bernard Shaw 1856-1950
