CPR and community first aid training through the American Red Cross will cost you about $30 or so dollars. Anyone who has had this training can tell you that it doesn't take that long and CPR is not hard to learn.
CPR training is part of a required class at my high school, and at many others in the DC area. We spent about two hours on it, and learned child, infant, and adult CPR. We had to perform it on a dummy in order to pass the class. I don't know if I could do this in a real situation because I have difficulty getting down on the ground, but I still feel like it's a valuable skill. At least I could explain the procedure to someone more agile. We also learned about safe ways to give CPR, that reduce the risk of getting communicable diseases. There are devices you can buy that make it close to impossible for you to get infected... I know this has nothing to do with the issues we were discussing, but I just thought I'd add.
