well, she lived on the gulf coast of florida for years. i guess that may be

Mc Allen is too near the Gulf(about 100 miles). It is full of snow
birds(people from the midwest mainly) who retire there. Had a lot of palms
and citrus fruit at one time.
It's the middle of Rio Grande Valley, thus, the term"the Valley") It is hot
and humid.
We stayed up river about 90 miles  one summer(1980) in Zapata. Had some nice
fisshing at Falcon Reservoir.
