Especially in some of the new places they are building homes. A lot of
people don't realize just how fragile the north central florida area is.
It's built on limestone that has a tendency to develop sinkholes (and big
ones at that) very easily.

The parents of a friend live in central Florida on (what used to be) a lake
in a golf course community. During the last drought the limestone shifted
under the lake and a sinkhole developed. The lake ran dry virtually
overnight. Hate to think what that did to their property value!

I know my parents retired there, and they are very happy, but I think all of
the folks retiring to Florida are out-stripping the capabilities of the
natural resources.

<snip>
We're trouble now because we had so many years of drought conditions,they
let people build houses where there should have retention ponds. Now, lots
of rain, lots of water that has to go somewhere.
