elaine,
my mom really pushed me hard to be as independent as possible. she did an
excellent job. but on the other hand, i missed out on having a childhood.
because of all the after-school therapy and tutoring. try to find a good
balance. i was very independent from age 19-34. i still am, but now at age
43 i can't walk much, because of overuse and painful syndromes.

i think that what you want for your daughter is attainable by other means,
namely feldenkrais. you can find out more at your library under moshe
feldenkrais, or at feldenkrais.com
