dating myself here?

A recent cruise through children's books found a new rendering of Sambo, of
all things! I was laid out in shock over that.  why would we even go there?
And I also found books that I thought were way over the age limit for young
kids in terms of content. Was really floored as to why very young kids
(second level) would need to be exposed to such themes as Aids, Racism ...
etc. I can understand the books about divorce, and anger management, but
still. Reading is supposed to be fun until they're old enough to understand
adult themes.
