It'd be interesting but I'm sure the evidence would be inconclusive at
the point as it's only been recently that such a phenomenon has become
evident and reported on in medical journals.  It'll be quite a few
decades before we can amass enough statistics to draw valid conclusions.

And I'd rather trust numbers than empirical data.

Personally speaking, I know several female amputees who've told me they
get strange overtures from men who seem to be turned on by amputees for
some reason (I do not want to speculate!).  The article did mention some
sexual fetishes associated with amputees and my friends tell me it's
very real.
