Fortunately I never met any famous architects, their names are too hard to
pronounce. Ruth

In NYC, lived in a group house (that's another story) with an architectural
student who always called himself innovative. (Memo: that is generally
contro-indicative of future success.) He was in charge of public speakers
for Columbia U. school of architecture where he studied. Some bigwig got
Arata Isosaki (anagram for "Nantucket bosker") to speak there, my friend's
job was to pick him up at hotel and bring him to CU. after lecture he
mentioned he had to catch a train for phila to speak there, my friend and i
were members of a van commune (that's another another story), we said oh
let us drive you down Mr. Famous Cool Architect, he said sure, we drove him
to Phila, absorbing Important Thoughts and generally high on how close we
were to Internationally Prominent Designer.

At end of ride, he said thank you so much, pulled out $400 out of his
impeccably thin wallet, gave it to us, we said "Wow! Cool!" and said
goodbye.

That is my Famous Architect story. Except I also once spoke to Max
Abramovitz and Charles Luckman.
