I too grew up in Ithaca (down the road, literally, from Besemer) and never
heard the term "GSF." I had a musician friend who said it was hard to get
out of the "ole 14850" (the Ithaca ZIP Code) but I thought that was mostly
due to its attractions (and abundance of musical opportunities, though not
lucrative).

If Lisle, Richford, or Spencer are close to Bullamanka I'd like to nominate
Speedsville (up the road from Brooktondale). Same geographical area, same
general economy. I think I only went there once (in my adult concious
life--maybe other times as a child when I had no idea where I was fishing
with my grandfather), arriving via Buffalo Hill Road which is a whole other
world in itself I'm told (maybe like Bone Plain Road up between South
Lansing and Peruville). I don't remember if I was driving an Agway fuel oil
truck at the time or just out on one of my attempts to get lost in the
country looking for old cars needing a home.

The fog is lifting...

Larry,

Close call. We is from Besemer. I to be frm B-dale afore that. Learnt
drivin' on dirt roads in the woods. Learnt rocks in the yard and the crick.
Though Bullamanka ain't noplace nearby GSF, more like Lisle & Richford, or
possibly Spenser. I think hills NE of Spenser is a good bet for Gab & Eti &
the Portable Toilet Theme Park.

>>> No matter how you travel to Ithaca, the last hour or so is on a winding,
two-lane road behind a big, slow truck, through the fog and/or falling snow.

Best part is you never know what you gonna run into when the fog ends. Damn,
now I'm homesick.
