It is so different to be in the shoes of the owner, rather than the uppity

Ilene,

Welcome to the worst of all possible worlds.<<

Ralph's right. We're currently building the oldest house in the county. It's
an 1815 church from Oxford New York, that we are relocating to Burbank Ohio.
We've been involved with many clients who have undertaken similar ventures
with old barns and houses and we are learning (the hard way):

1. It's harder than you figured.

2. It takes longer.

3. It cost more.

4. You can't always get what you want.

5. Actually doing the work yourself gives you black boogers.

But that's part of the fun when you realize that what you end up with isn't
totally within your control. Old houses, and buildings in general, can be
really hard teachers, but they're usually the best ones.

Enjoy your project, and take time to smell the coal dust. (It's in there)

Rudy
