I've always claimed that the Preservation Industry isn't a matter of history,
but rather of marketing. At least as a group we are finally realizing that,
for what it's worth, fear and jargon can create a powerful marketing tool. It
may not be 'gentlemanly' to use them, but by generating controversy, one
generates interest. And that interest combats the 'back of the truck' nature
of the business. Which hopefully, will eventually benefit the buildings
themselves.

I'd say that... if the Siding Industry has had to refute in print some of the
Preservation Industry's assertions, then the Preservation Industry is
succeeding.
