For some it is SCREWDRIVERS!!!!  I think I counted near 100 here before I
gave up counting.  Ruth  (Still waiting for Ralph to come to the
screwdriver museum of the northeast.)

Indeed, the point is that if it means something to you, then you are still
alive.   My parents had the kind of collection you are describing, National
Geographics, slot head screws, etc., and the point of it all seemed to be
to facilitate a sense of optimism based on hope for time and energy to "do
something" with all the stuff, implying a future.   The stuff symbolized
their future life, and kept them active and eager for each next day.   They
both died with active minds.
