From the Times, today:

CORRECTION:

An article on July 4 about the placement of 50 obsolete New York subway cars
in the ocean off Cape May, N. J., to enlarge an artificial reef misidentified
the equipment used to push them off a barge. It was a diesel-powered
hydraulic excavator with a backhoe attachment, not a steam shovel.
