Glad to see a defense of Bauhaus.  As much as many of us may find the
"machines for living" antithetical to our current view of appropriate
architecture, they were evidence of a significant period in architecture and
theory.  Although the principles were degraded over time and lost favor,
preserving significant examples of that movement is just as important as
preserving Drayton Hall.

Unfortunately, one of the principles of the modern movement was planned
obsolecence -- buildings rapidly became obsolete and should be designed for a
30 year life-span -- now causing nightmares for today's preservationists!
