I guess I'm a bit puzzled as to why I didn't hear it with my older RS35, and
other supplies I've used.

All that aside, I think that tonight, I might take the cover off, and try to
re-tighten all the screws to be sure everything is firmly in place.

Then, I'll see if I can make some sort of a wedge out of folded Braille
paper or something like that to insulate the top and sides of the cover from
the main unit to cut down a bit on the vibration hum.

Tom,

The increase in hum is normal.  It happens when you draw more current from
the supply, and it happens with all power supplies.  As long as the supply
is delivering the right voltage under load, you have no real basis for
returning it.
