The hiss goes away if I switch the Super III. to narrow mode, but so does 
the signal strength.  And, yep, I know that the Super III. isn't the 
greatest radio for A M dxing.  Actually, the Super II. was better, and a 
good communications receiver with SSB capability would be the best.

One of these days, I'll invest in one.  I actually have been thinking too of 
getting a good HD A M radio receiver, but don't quite know what to look for 
in terms of affordability and capability at this point.  Here in semi-rural 
central lower Michigan, there aren't many digital AM stations yet anyway.
