Hi Lowell,
    I was born with no optic nerve at all as far as doctors can tell, but I 
was able to see a small amount til approx age 11 or 12 where vision just 
slowly faded over a year or so. As you say, there is nothing as of yet for 
regeneration of these nerve cells but there is a lot of work being done for 
people with spinal cord injuries and many scientists have commented this is 
somewhat in the same direction so you never know. God is certainly the 
answer but scientists are on the edge of many breakthroughs and one doctor 
said he'd be surprised if they didn't come up with something while I'm still 
alive. I'm age 52 now so they had better hurry. Dave w4ci
