Hi Neil!

Right, I will set the 998's baud rate to 9600 so that it matches the
TS-2000. However, I need to ask more about the cabling, as follows.

Presently, I have Ameritron's DB-DB7DK interface cable for the TS-2000. it
is a "Y" cable. This cable has both a 7-pin round DIN and a 9-pin DB9
connection at one end, and a single DB9 connecter at the other end. The end
with the two connecters plug into the TS-2000; the 7-pin DIN into the
"Remote Connecter" and the DB9 into the COM port. The other end of this
cable plugs into the 1306.

So, are you saying that this cable is not the right one? That is, are you
saying that I need two separate cables; 1) a 7-pin DIN to RCA which runs
between the TS-2000 and the 998, and 2) a DB9 which runs between the TS-2000
and the 1306? Of course, I would additionally need an RCA cable between the
998 and the 1306. However, I do not see these separate cables "1" and "2"
at Ameritron's website. I only see the DB-DB7DK "Y" cable I am currently
using (unsuccessfully).

Many thanks,
Richard KK6MRH

Richard
1. Data rate or baud rate must be set on both ends 9600 is fine

2. Yes that 7 pin cabble you need amp ptt from the 7 pin to the center pin
of the rca amp ptt 998 in / out loop Also you need ground then you need the
second rca cable from the 998 amp / ptt loop out to the ameritron ptt input

Ameritron sells this cable ready to go
