with all due respect, as detrimental as I believe the likes of echolink 
and IRLP to be to ham radio, they do have their uses. as it stands, with 
the ever increasing areas that are now restricted covenants, it's 
getting harder and harder to even put up a little VHF/UHF antenna.
hide one in doors? sure. if you don't want to get to anywhere other than 
a repeater. hide a tiny hf antenna in doors?, again, your efficiency 
decreases.
let's not quibble over this, let's just face the fact that echolink and 
IRLP are here and will remain so. besides, I thought the idea of amateur 
radio was experimentation. is that not what we're doing with echolink 
and IRLP?
