Hi Mike,
There are accessibility reviews of the Kenwood 480, 570, 590, 2000, and 990,
and the Icom 7000, 7200, 7400/946 Pro, and 7600 on the Active Elements site.
I agree with Pat, the combination of a dedicated HF rig and the TMv71 makes
a good alternative to a TS-2000, if you can live without SSB on VHF and UHF.
When I was with RAIBC in the UK, we loaned many Kenwood TS-570 radios to
blind amateurs. It was virtually bullet proof, and we seldom had one go
wrong. Of the older radios mentioned, I would suggest the 570 is your best
bet, and it has a great auto ATU. The VS-3 voice boards are still
available, and the older Kenwoods such as the 850, and the older 440 and 940
have all kinds of issues getting parts.
Best wishes, Kelvin Marsh - M0AID

Subject: second radio:
Thanks for the information on the radios. I would like to get a
second radio, if I go on vacation, or something. I would like to
have an HF. to 440 radio to take.
Right now it looks like the TS 2000 is the best.
I am just thinking about it, not enough money yet!
Can't have everything!
Mike
