Matt,

You didn't mention where your vhf/uhf antenna is. If it's in the shack, that 
could be an issue as that hum when you transmit is almost certainly RF and 
if you can separate the gear from the antenna, that may help. Of course, you 
probably know all that. I'm just trying to leave no stone unturned. Lou
