That cable is only for rig control, you can't change any menu settings,
program memories or anything, basically it tunes the VFO and lets you change
modes and the absolute most basic settings. You can't actually program
anything with it or change the menu settings, program memories or anything.
not really worth it unless you want to do rig control and I have one for my
IC-706MKIIG and have never had much luck getting it to work very well.

Subject: Need Cable to program recent Icom rig! OEM, Aftermarket, or
Radioshack, OK!!!

Am programming an Icom IC-706Original, and need either a USB or sirial
cable.
If you've got, Icom, After Market, or the cable meant for scanner
programming,
sold a while back by Radio Shack, that you'd divest, please let me know!
The cable which works with HRD is part number 20-047 from Radio Shack.
(See Hints and Kinks QST October
2008 page 78.)
(They were marked down to $5 when the shack was closing them out, not sure
of the availability of them now however.)

Please advise availability!
Thanks!!,
