I went to Dayton in 1978 and many groups brought their club repeaters,
most FM rigs used crystals, but it was hard to find your friends since
the entire 2 meter band was busy. Guys were speeding around on motor
scooters.
In 2007, nearly everyone had a cell phone and businesses rented
wheelchairs to the aging ham population.
In 1978, I remember commercial video cameras being sold at Dayton. These
were the size of a small microwave oven and the video recorders used 1

FYI as in the past 5 years, we will again broadcast the hamvention
live streaming over the internet at http://w5kub.com
For those of you that can not make it, you can still enjoy it and join
in on the chat room with other hams. We normally have about 120 hams
logged in to chat at all times and are also being viewed in approx 150
countries. We also will transmit live our 550 mile drive from Memphis
live. If you have any suggestions please let us know. Thanks, Tom
