In your last posting regarding Fred's ALC question you mentioned that you are using an Ameritron ALS-600. 
As I'm interested in adding some power later on, this is one of the options. 

I would prefer a tubed amp but to safely operate this type of amp, I think a significant cost would be incurred for a tuning aid, RF PT-2000CW if one could be found and a manual ant tuner or a 1KW automatic tuner. 
The amp would also have to be fairly rugged and for giving, a 572B or 
3-500Z type which certainly elavates the cost. 

To that end, I downloaded the ALS-600 manual this weekend an read it. 
I don't think the numbers add up. 
Will the amp handle 100W sustained drive levels and deliver 1KW out? 
According to the PS voltages, 50VDC and 20 amps, this indicates to me that the amp would indeed deliver far more than the rated 600W.
