It depends on how much money is available, then I could giver several 
suggestions from used to new.  I think by far the best bang for the buck 
these days is the Kenwood 590.  They ahve come out with a slightly 
improvved new model, but others were being sold at a good discount. 
Then there is the 480, and you can even go back to the 450, 470, or 690, 
same as the 450 but has 6 meters.  Most Kenwood stuff is very 
accessible.  If you can afford it, I'd really encourage you to look aat 
the 590.
