    Well, thanks, Lloyd.

We are pursuing various options for the coax issue here, and it is
comforting to know that I likely won't be heading into big problems, at
least in the short term, if I don't get to it right away.

My highest priority right now is to get my Carolina Windom 160 Compact up,
hopefully within the next few week-ends.

P.S. Regarding the Cross-country blind ops net, I didn't make it today
because our communications event ran a bit longer than expected, and a
number of us went out to supper afterwords.

I will try next week, although I also will be occupied withthe the
Pennsylvania QSO Party contest Sunday afternoon.

I suppose it's risky, but for three years, while I lived in Cedar Rapids,
Iowa, I'm pretty sure that the coax going to my ground-mounted 50-foot 80/40
meter vertical lay on the ground. It was RG58, and no special precautions
were taken. I could disconnect it at the base of the antenna whenever I
thought weather threatened or the lawn needed to be mowed. So I think you
could take a risk with this coax, at least over the coming winter.

I have had the same run of RG213 going outside and up my 60-foot tower for
28 years, and it doesn't seem to be too lossy. I suppose I ought to find a
way to make a loss measurement on it.
