Jim,

Although doable, it's not very practical for a couple of reasons.  First, 
you get no feedback.  So, for example, you can set a frequency, but you'll 
have no idea if you did it correctly.  Second, all function controls 
including PTT are disabled when in Remote Mode.  So unless you also have 
crossband repeat enabled, you can't do anything but control the radio.  I 
suppose you could do things like change power level, but it's a lot of work 
to go through for very little gain.  Besides, unless you have control 
sequences programmed into DTMF memories (not possible on any of the Chinese 
handhelds as far as I know), you may find it difficult to key the sequences 
in accurately.

For me, the only practical use of Remote Mode is to turn crossband on and 
off.
