Glad to have you on the list.

You will find many very helpful and well-informed people here who can assist
you with anything pertaining to ham radio, and even other topics at times.

So, ask away, and we'll do our best.

Hi

I have just joined the list, I have not been on the radio for nearly ten
years and wanted to get back in the loop so to speak. I used to live in
Scotland but now live in France.
The last time I used my hf was back in early 2007. One of the reasons I
stopped was because my rig started to go wrong and I wasn't able to get it
fixed. It was a kenwood ts440s.
I had it from new. The board that switches it between some of the bands
stopped working and I had no idea what it would cost to get fixed but
thought it would cost more to fix than the rig was worth. I still have my 2
metre handhelds and sometimes use that but it isn't the same as hf.

Just to tell you a bit about myself, my callsign is G0mun, I still have my
license, in fact I made sure of that this week. I am visually impaired and
in a wheelchair but often found the radio was a great equaliser. I wanted to
use echolink but couldn't get my firewall to work with it, I had to open up
several ports that would make my pc open to threats and wasn't prepared to
do that.

One of the reasons for joining the list was to catch up a dn find out what
else was available like echolink that would let me use my pc to communicate
and also hopefully catch up with some old friends.

Ok that is enough from me on my first post. Looking forward to chatting with
you all.
