thanks Andy,  the review from Russ (I think) is quite good and discusses the points I had recalled.  For my money I will still take the 430 or equivalent over the portables but ah well.....  I have herd good things about the r8 too but than it is in a different class.

Tim Hendell did a review of this radio in a previous issue of Playback
magazine.  I don't remember when, but you can purchase individual issues
