Tom,

I was able to use the 'adapter cord' that came with the programming
software for the VX5 for earphone output.  As you probably know, that jack
on the Yaesu is a four conductor deal and really hard to find the proper
male plug to adapt the output to your use.

I also have the tiny Icom 2m/440mhz transceiver; it has a similar, but not
identical output plug.  Icom sells an adapter for its transceiver which
works just fine with an earphone.  That, too, might be a posible fix.
