The Olympus is small and does not have a CD burner. You'd need to transfer it to the PC.

If you had your own CD recorder, of course, yound need to use music CD's. But I never went that route.

  Hi Steve;
  Do these machines contain c d burners or would it have to be transferred to
  the computer and burned first?

  Richard,

  You might grab an accessible MP3 recorder such as the Olympus DS30,40, =
  or 50. You can take the audio from a line-out into the Olympus or other =
  MP3 recorder and record it. Then, you can take the unit, connect it to =
  your computer and upload the files from the unit to your PC.

    Hi;
    It seems I wasn't the only one with mp3 questions. My nontechnical =
  problem=20
    is that the computer and cassette deck are on opposite sides of the =
  house.=20
    The stereo is the type that the cassette decks are built into the =
  receiver.=20
    Anything can be moved but it sounds like work. I was hoping for a =
  stand=20
    alone unit to convert older cassettes into mp3 or wav c d . At some =
  point=20
    this stereo will find a new home and with it goes my cassette deck. =
  If I=20
    get ambitious, there would be no need for another cassette deck.
