John to let you and the others that answered my call for help know the
problem that I am having is cause from a bad com 2 port.  I used a loopback
device  and a com port testing program and you can not believe that errors
that showed up on that port.  So I get to stop at the local computer store
and get me a com card.  Thanks for everyone's help with the problem.  Bob
