Subject: What is an M3U file?

I downloaded what I thought was a complete Internet stream, but I now
believe it is only a shortcut file. But its extension labels it as an M3U
file, and I don't know exactly what kind of file that is. I know that my
computer is the only machine I can use it on. 73.
