Hi All,
We have two FRS radios. It is the family radio service. There
are 14 channels available and I think they are in the 900 mhz range. The
units can run up to 500 milliwatts but most are about 100 to 300. Their
range is up to about one mile depending on conditions. If two people are
out in the open they would probably do better.
The Radio Schak units I have have a "sleep" mode and with 3 AA
batteries they can listen for about 4 days. They work really nicely for
communicating with family and friends that don't have tickets. We use them
for car pooling, hikes etc. The prices range from about $20 to over $100
each. There great.
