Bob:

I'll definitely give this a try, if for no other reason than to know how the
option works and what it's like.

I'm sure I can get one of the local guys here to try it with me.

Thanks for the additional info.

Hi Tom,

I was talking to a local ham last week and he said, " have you tried DCS?"
I said no, but I was willing to give it a try. He then told me to tgo to
DCS mode and sselect the same encoded number that he was using. I did that,
and we were in business.

IF you tap the tone button on your tmv71A, you'll notice that there are four
settings. The low beep default setting is off, the first high beep is ctcss
for transmit only. The second beep is for both receive and transmit ctcss.
The third beep is DCS. Just like with the other squelch modes, if you first
push the function button and then the tone button, you can set the DCS code
you want to use. After you've found the code you want, just hit the tone
button again and that sets the DCS to the DCS code number you selected.
