Hi Eric.

I take it that you are only looking for HF and 6 meters, in which case the
TS480S should serve you well. It is a little more accessible than the
TS2000S, although the TS2000S is still quite accessible. Mostly the reason
why I went with the TS2000S is because I wanted 2 meters and 70 cm all mode
coverage.

To answer your question on the programs, one is to control the rig
completely from the computer rather than using the controls on the panel,
and the other program allows you to just program the memories and set menu
functions. I personally had no interest in controlling my radio from the
computer--I still like to twist my own knobs, and I could not see incurring
the extra cost for the control program. However, the software for loading
the memories and menus is free, and it is well worth the effort to obtain
as it is screen reader friendly, and greatly simplifies the process of
initial programming of the radio.

I'm not sure what the story is on the control package with Window-Eyes as I
have neither Window-Eyes nor the control package, but tyhe memory control
package for loading memories and setting menus works very well with JAWS
and I don't see anything there that leads me to think that Window-Eyes
would have any trouble with it. Try it, since the software is free anyway.
