Here is an alternate in case you can't get the other to work:

1.  WindowsKey+R to bring up the Run dialog.
2.  Type in WMPlayer.exe and press ENTER.

F7 is mute / unmute 
F8 is volume down
F9 is volume up

1. Hold down the windows key, and strike the letter R, as in run.
2. Type in: sndvol
3. Strike enter
4. Tab one time, and strike the space bar. 
5. You may have to strike the up arrow to increase the volume.
