my understanding is that it does have speech but has not met type A requirements.

Hi;
We may have gotten side tracked a bit as to whether the radio is legal for 
use in the States.  The initial question that I too am curious about was 
whether this ht has speech.  True if it isn't legal it does us no good but 
it would at least be the first ht with some speech which would be an 
interesting step forward.
