Hi all:

as I have said on this list previously, the G5RV antennna is not an antenna in its own right.

the theory of the antenna includes a specific LC tuner to make it resonant at the transmitter.
it was also designed by Lou in the days of valve (vacuum tube) finals which are a lot more forgiving than the modern solid state circuits.

there is nothing special about it in the modern application, over and above the doublet and the commercialism of those who sell it!

you might as well just throw up a piece of wire, divided at a convenient point and take that flat line to your ATU.

if you cannot put up a resonant antenna for each band, this would work moderately well.

if you want to work the traditional ham bands of 80/40/20/15/10 then a W3DZZ or G8KW trap dipol e would serve you ok, and probably would be tuneable using an ATU for the WARD bands.
