Tom, the static problem happened using the internal mic.  Have 
called HW support about a number of problems, their advice ranges 
from very helpful to very useless depending on whom you get and 
their knowledge of the particular product in question.  Jim

Also, if you are using an external mic, check the mic plug hole 
to be sure
it is free of dust.  This was suggested to me by Bob (K8LR) from

Tom, if you get into the notes area on the new Stream you can go 
to a place
where it says something about recording volume.  I don't have the 
thing
here, but check it out.  I had some strange issues last week 
where I
recorded some notes only to find loud static when I played them 
back.  Have
also had other issues where the Stream or the HW server deleted a 
bunch of
my podcasts etc.
